Compliance
Lift installation in New Zealand is governed by the Building Act 2004 and as such require either a Building Consent or specific Letter of Exemption from the local Council. Exemptions are generally only issued for residential installations where the height rise is less than 1 metre although some Councils require a Building Consent for any lift. (Residential lifts do NOT require an annual Safety Inspection Certificate).
Obtaining the Building Consent or Letter of Exemption is the responsibility of:
- The building owner or principal contractor, or
- Pandect Mobility Solutions (where Pandect is responsible for the lift installation and where Pandect has been asked to obtain the Building Consent)
In either case Pandect can supply all relevant consent and compliance documentation required for lifts installed in private residences.
