Low rise platform lifts

Pandect low rise platform lifts have been installed in a variety of indoor/outdoor environments and settings including:

  • School - stages, orchestra pits, libraries, general access
  • Restaurants
  • Court houses
  • Banks
  • Event centres
  • Scenic viewing platforms
  • Retail shops
  • Churches
  • And many others

Design

The design of Pandect lifts, including colour (and options) and fabrication suits any setting without interfering with the building layout. Pandect lifts are ‘subtle’ on the surrounding environment and do not ‘impose’ on the visual layout of the location.

Pandect assists customers with the choice of lift to suit the required functionality and location including a site specific lift diagram. Site visits can also be undertaken to determine suitability and positioning.

Installation

Pandect recommends lift installation is undertaken by suitably qualified contractors/technicians. Pandect has a New Zealand wide network of contractors and technicians who can undertake installation of low rise platform lifts ensuring the lift and adjacent built environment is appropriate for the lift to operate in.

Pandect’s installation service can include the site preparation work involving upper landing deck, concrete placement, electrical work, Building Consent and Lift Certification requirements.

Key points

  • Pandect lifts are usually surface mounted to concrete using a bolt down system, however they can be affixed to timber floor joists
  • Where lifts are installed within purpose built walls and immediately behind flush mounted doors, some models have the option of being pit installed (55mm pit depth only)
  • Correct tolerances are allowed for between the moving lift platform and its surrounding surfaces
  • Surrounding surfaces are plumb, flush and smooth
  • The lift base is flat and square
  • Where installation is not undertaken by Pandect, the lift comes with comprehensive installation instructions
  • Pandect can review plans and provide site specific installation diagrams to assist with installation
  • Pandect Installation Instructions have been reviewed and signed off by an independent Structural Engineer
  •

Compliance

Commercial lift installation in New Zealand is governed by the Building Act 2004 and as such requires a Building Consent.

In terms of the Building Act 2004, lifts in commercial settings must have a current Safety Inspection Certificate. This requires the lift to be surveyed by an Independently Qualified Person (IQP) who issues a Safety Inspection Certificate which is displayed on the lift.

Obtaining the Building Consent is the responsibility of:

  1. The building owner or principal contractor, or
  2. Pandect Mobility Solutions (where Pandect is responsible for the lift installation and where Pandect has been asked to obtain the Building Consent)

In support of Compliance and Safety requirements, relevant documentation is provided as required, including:

  • PS1 – Producer Statement Design
  • PS2 – Producer Statement Design Review – Structural
  • PS2 – Producer Statement Design Review – Access Equipment
  • PS3 – Producer Statement – Construction (Installation)
  • PS ‘B2’ - Producer Statement – Durability
  • Lift Particulars Schedule
  • Manufacturer’s In Factory Pressure Test Certificate
  • Installer’s Site Hazard, Safety & Equipment Test Checklist
  • Annual IQP Inspection Check List
  • Lift Log Book & associated documentation
  • Disabled Access Signage
  •

Australia and the Pacific Islands

  • Pandect’s commercial lifts are available in all States of Australia and the Pacific Islands. These are supplied through importing lift companies

Stair lifts

Stair lifts are generally regarded as more appropriate for residential, rather than commercial applications and are viewed accordingly by Territorial Local Authorities/Councils.

Where a stair lift may be the only practical option available, Councils may approve their use, e.g. required for a specific staff member or person.
